High pressure grout plant manufacturer is usually more compact and more portable than pumps with external motors. Pumps with more than two cylinders tend to place the cylinders side by side, similar to a car engine, where the piston is powered by the crankshaft. When working hard, most of them vibrate and must be well fixed on the engine bed or some other solid base.
Piston pumps used for grouting usually have two cylinders, called double cylinders. Four-cylinder and six-cylinder pumps are sometimes used for particularly large jobs; these may be large mechanical parts that are only suitable for large pumping stations. Most modern, much lighter two-cylinder pumps have pistons at each end of a shaft; the shaft provides power between them.
In this particular arrangement, the grout can only enter the outer ends of the two pistons-the space between the two is occupied by the driving fluid, which can be air or hydraulic.
